Since 2022, I’ve been developing this new way of composition for myself. AfroPneumaism means black breath and the idea is to remind everybody that no matter your amount of privilege or lack of privilege you have the right to breathe and you have the right to take up space. AfroPneumaism reminds us that we don’t have to wait to be invited into spaces, that were already ours to own.
